First one is local, where the police have already arrested a suspect in the death of a local woman over the weekend.

RACINE — The ex-boyfriend of Ann Larson has been charged with beating her in late August and is a suspect in her death, according to court documents.

Larson, 29, was found inside her Superior Street apartment at 3 a.m. Sunday. Following an autopsy Monday, authorities ruled her death a homicide.

Robert Shoning, 44, was the person who called authorities early Sunday morning and told police he had found Larson dead in her apartment. At that time he was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct stemming from an Aug. 31 assault.

According to the criminal complaint against him, Larson called police on Aug. 31 and told them that she and Shoning argued at their apartment at 2109 1/2 Superior St. She said during the fight he punched her in the face and ribs.

Shoning was charged with battery and disorderly conduct Tuesday and was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond.

The suspect is actually under arrest for beating the woman in August but is considered the prime suspect in her death.

Next one is national, where divers thought they may have recovered body parts and toys belonging to Caylee Anthony, the missing Florida toddler. However, it turned out to be a false alarm, and police are now questioning the bounty hunter who hired the divers.

A sergeant with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in Florida says bags found during a river search for missing toddler Caylee Anthony do not contain human remains, FOX affiliate WOFL-TV in Orlando reported.

Sgt. John Allen, a lead investigator in the case, told WOFL at the scene that he doesn’t believe 3-year-old Caylee is in the Little Econ River, where bounty hunter Leonard Padilla had hired a dive team to hunt for the child.

Police have examined the bags and found no human bones, fingers or toes as Padilla claimed, Allen said. Investigators quickly left the area.

Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Carlos Padilla (no relation to the bounty hunter) said police want Leonard Padilla to take a lie detector test, and he has agreed.

Carlos Padilla told FOXNews.com that the bounty hunter had informed police of his crew’s alleged discovery.

“This is of no evidentiary value,” the spokesman said after investigators examined the items.

Caylee’s mother, Casey is under arrest, charged with her daughter’s murder.

I’m glad they made an arrest in the Racine case – I hadn’t heard that yet. She went to my friend’s church, and I inadvertently drove past the vigil for her on Superior this evening. It’s so sad that her children will grow up without a mother.

And a father to boot. He’s way out of the picture. The children’s grandparents (her parents) hava custody of them.
