Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey, hey, hey, GOOD-BYE!!!

The corrupt, seven-time convicted felon Ted Stevens is gone from the U.S. Senate.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (al-AP) – Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens has lost his bid for a seventh term. The longest-serving Republican in the history of the Senate trailed Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich by 3,724 votes after Tuesday’s count.

That’s an insurmountable lead with only about 2,500 overseas ballots left to be counted.

Stevens, who turned 85 Tuesday, also revealed that he will not ask President George W. Bush to give him a pardon for his seven felony convictions.

Next stop, the Crowbar Hotel.

The Republicans, once again proving to be the Stupid Party, had the chance to pull in Alaska what the Democrats did in New Jersey when they replaced Robert Torricelli with Frank Lautenberg at the 11th hour. Instead, they left the crook on the ballot and went down.

Stevens’s loss removes another potentially embarrassing situation for the Republicans as to how to handle Stevens if he had been re-elected and sent back to the Senate. Lord know they’d have screwed that up as well.
