You wanted this, or so your votes in November said. Well, now you’ve got it.
Central planning and a government-run economy courtesy of The Messiah, who has now been empowered to fire private citizens from private sector jobs and impose a command-style economic planning on the automobile industry.
Firs, Our Lord and Savior Barack Hussein Obama fires the CEO of General Motors.
The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.
On Monday, President Barack Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler. The plan is based on recommendations from the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry, headed by the Treasury Department.
The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government’s behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.
General Motors issued a vague statement Sunday night that did not officially confirm Wagoner’s departure.
“We are anticipating an announcement soon from the Administration regarding the restructuring of the U.S. auto industry. We continue to work closely with members of the Task Force and it would not be appropriate for us to speculate on the content of any announcement,” the company said.
Now, I never thought I’d see the day when the President of the United States could fire a private citizen, but then I never thought I’d see Congress show an emotional temper tantrum and retroactively tax legal income at 90 percent in a direct violation of the U.S. Constitution.
And what’s more, The Messiah says the federal government will guarantee all auto repair warranties. That’s right, folks. The folks who can’t organize a two-car funeral, the federal government, will now be running all warranty repair centers in the United States. That’s means if you think the wait for repairs is long now, wait until you are dealing with a bureaucrat posing as a mechanic for warranty work. People are upset about being without a vehicle for a day or two. Wait until you have weeks or months without a vehicle because the repair center is now run by the federal government.
Besides, where is the Chocolate Jesus going to get the money to pay for warranty repairs? You know the answer to that one: the rest of us. We will now be paying for your auto repairs.
This, by the way, may be the silliest of all statements in this theater of the absurd. From The Second Coming of Christ Himself:
Let me be clear: the United States government has no interest or intention of running GM.
All who believe that, stand on your head. That’s exactly what He is doing. He is now the de facto CEO of GM. By the way, it’s no longer General Motors; it’s now Government Motors.
Now, it’s also Chrysler’s turn to receive ultimatums from The Anointed One. All restructuring plans must receive His approval, and the ones submitted by GM and Chrysler weren’t enough. Chrysler is being forced by Obama to be taken over by Fiat.
Can anyone show me just where in the Constitution the President is authorized to take over and run a private business, any private business? Funny, I can’t find it anywhere.
Why? Because it doesn’t exist. There is no constitutional precedent for what The Messiah is doing. It’s the imposition of a Soviet-style centrally planned command economy on the U.S., piece by piece.
Now, My Boy Lollipop, Bawney Fwank, the Banking Queen himself, wants the federal government to be able to set your salary.
[I]n a little-noticed move, the House Financial Services Committee, led by chairman Barney Frank, has approved a measure that would, in some key ways, go beyond the most draconian features of the original AIG bill. The new legislation, the “Pay for Performance Act of 2009,” would impose government controls on the pay of all employees — not just top executives — of companies that have received a capital investment from the U.S. government. It would, like the tax measure, be retroactive, changing the terms of compensation agreements already in place. And it would give Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner extraordinary power to determine the pay of thousands of employees of American companies.
The purpose of the legislation is to “prohibit unreasonable and excessive compensation and compensation not based on performance standards,” according to the bill’s language. That includes regular pay, bonuses — everything — paid to employees of companies in whom the government has a capital stake, including those that have received funds through the Troubled Assets Relief Program, or TARP, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The measure is not limited just to those firms that received the largest sums of money, or just to the top 25 or 50 executives of those companies. It applies to all employees of all companies involved, for as long as the government is invested. And it would not only apply going forward, but also retroactively to existing contracts and pay arrangements of institutions that have already received funds.
In addition, the bill gives Geithner the authority to decide what pay is “unreasonable” or “excessive.” And it directs the Treasury Department to come up with a method to evaluate “the performance of the individual executive or employee to whom the payment relates.”
Be afraid. Be very afraid. They’re coming for you. They want to make sure you don’t any more than the elites determine is “fair.” The government will determine what is unreasonable or excessive. And you know that the definition of government involvement will be expanded to the broadest definition possible. Did your employer receive a tax credit? Well, then the government is involved and will be allowed to limit all employees’ salaries and compensation, as well as mandate prevailing wage (read: union level) compensation and benefits.
Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? This approach was tried in
- The former Soviet Union. Result? Failure
- Red China. Result? Failure.
- Mussolini’s Italy. Result? Failure
- Nazi Germany. Result? Failure
- Cuber. Result? Failure
- Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela. Result? Failure.
- Every socialist, communist, fascist totalitarian state in the history of the world. Result? Failure.
Now, the Dictator in Chief is denying bailout funds to the automakers unless they come up with a restructuring plan that meets His approval. One of those conditions for Government Motors will be to drop 11 vehicles from its product line.
It’s no coincidence that those 11 lines will include the highly successful truck and SUV lines, the ones that made the former General Motors money under the leadership of Rick Wagoner. That’s why Wagoner was fired by The Messiah, by the way. He refused to scrap the truck and SUV line in favor of so-called green cars, flex fuel vehicles and electric putt-putt cars.
It’s also no secret that Americans simply do not want to buy the kind of vehicles the pinhead elitists — the folks who comprise Obama’s auto team — want them to buy. They want to buy larger cars which provide more room and more protection.
What’s the reaction of the pinhead elitists? Simply abolish the kind of cars Americans want to purchase and force them to buy the kind of cars the elitists want, since those cars can’t compete when consumers are given a choice.
You vill get Algore’s box on wheels and you vill like it. This is the centrally planned command style economy on display. It’s how the Italian fascists operated under Mussolini, how the Nazis operated in Germany, how every socialist, communist and totalitarian state has operated since then.
Doug Powers via Michelle Malkin has the new GM logo.
Ed Morrisey has more at Hot Air. I agree with Ed: GM needs to tell The Messiah to go screw Himself and file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Rick Wagoner has let more details emerge from his being handed his “resignation” by Our Lord and Savior: namely that other members of the GM Board are being forced to resign (translated: fired). Who’s going to replace them? People hand-picked by The Anointed One, people who know absolutely nothing about cars, probably can’t even change a tire, but will establish His control. You know, pinhead Ivy League elitists. Environmentalist wackos. Thugs from the UAW. People who don’t give a tinker’s damn about the survival of GM. many of whom hate the automobile as we know it and subscribe to Algore‘s theory that the internal combustion engine is the greatest threat to mankind — greater than, say, jihadists and especially jihadists with nuclear weapons — and are promoting a socialist/communist agenda.
