Let’s Talk About Civility, Shall We? September 10, 2009

Everyone wants to talk about Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), who had the cojones to call Our Lord and Savior just what He is during His highly partisan address to Congress last night: a liar.

Of course, al-Associated Press puts its own partisan spin on the event:

WASHINGTON (al-AP) — The nastiness of August reached from the nation’s town halls into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to move his health care plan forward.

That’s the White House spin. Also that of the likes of Bela Pelosi and Dingy Harry and the other Democrats Statists in Congress.

The only nastiness in the town halls came from nutroots astroturfed in by the union thugs and community organizers leftwing rabble rousers from the likes of ACORN and the campaign wing of the White House.

Naturally, The Anointed One has the brass tacks to make this statement (via NRO’s The Corner):

I still believe we can replace acrimony with civility.

Let’s see. After a month of calling opponents of government-run health care showing up at town halls tools of the insurance industry and Republican operatives, brownshirts, Nazis, a mob, lynch mobs, evil-mongers (not to mention the physical assaults and verbal bullying and attempts to shut down meetings), the Street Thug in Chief has the gall to demand civility.

Allahpundit puts it very well over at Hot Air:

Where this jackass gets off lecturing Americans on civility after his cretinous cronies spent a month demagoging the hell out of every protester in sight is beyond me. You’re Mr. Clean, aren’t you, champ? And bottom-feeders like Harry Reid are your hatchet men. Nice work if you can get it.

As Jim Hoft from Gateway Pundit is fond of pointing out:

More Hope & Change–
Barack Obama gave his marching orders:

Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”
Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!”
Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
Obama To His Mercenary Army: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”His supporters responded.

Michelle Malkin calls it more manufactured outrage from the Left and reminds us of just how President Bush was treated by Democrats in 2005 when he delivered his speech on reforming Social Security.
