Memo To Dede: Withdraw, Please!

She shouldn’t need a horse’s head in her bed to get the message.

Dede Scozzafova should do the honorable thing and withdraw from the special election in New York’s 23 congressional district. She’s an embarrassment beyond the level of Alan Keyes in the 2004 U.S. Senate race in Illinois. And we all know Who that gave us. Keyes at least was a conservative, although not a credible candidate. Scozzafova is neither.

Her positions on key issues are right alongside of Bela Pelosi. She supports homosexual marriage. She was the recipient of an award named for Margaret Sanger, a supporter of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis’ desire for a master race through eugenics and the elimination of blacks and Jews, people she felt were inferior. She’s been backed by the Kos Kiddie Day Care Center, although even Markos Moulitsas even called her out on her deceitful tactics. She’s been caught lying about a reporter, attempting to smear and destroy his reputation by filing a false police report. Her press conference in front of one of Doug Hoffman’s campaign offices was a laughingstock.

The bigger atrocity here is just how this RINO – Republican In Name Only – even got to where she is. Handpicked not by the voters but by insider liberal party hacks and forced on the voters with the assent of the clueless, out-of-touch bunch in Washington, she would never have survived an open primary with real voters. The Republican National Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee, continuing to show that neither one could find its collective rear end with both hands, poured money into her campaign … and ran ads attacking the only conservative in the race, Doug Hoffman.

What part of “stuck on stupid” don’t they get?

Scozzafova could and should make it easy on the RNC and NRCC to save face and withdraw from the race and throw her support to Hoffman. Hoffman’s come out of nowhere and is surging at just the right time. The RINO, meanwhile, is running a distant third by all confirmed reports. The voters are laying the smackdown to the blueblood, country-club elites that think the GOP lost badly in 2006 and 2008 because their candidates were too conservative.

Do the right thing. Get out. Now.
