The extreme, America-hating Left is about to launch another full frontal assault on the young skulls full of mush held captive in gummint-run skoolz.
This time, it’s America-hating history quack and fraud Howard Zinn using NBC-owned The History Channel to broadcast The People Speak, financed and produced by Zinn disciple Matt Damon and featuring Damon and others, including Josh Brolin and Benjamin Bratt spewing propaganda for “social change,” which is now labeled “community organizing” and “social justice.” In other words, leftwing rabble rousers.
What’s more, it comes with its very own curriculum guide which segues into the Howard Zinn curriculum: the concept of social justice for children in elementary schools.
Based on Zinn’s tome (that’s book, for those of you who graduated from Racine Unified) The People’s History of the United States, it’s calld the Zinn Education Project. It’s an attempt to preach Zinn’s gospel of America-hating vitriol and venom throughout America’s schools and create a whole new army of Barack Hussein Obamas.
And all based on lies. To quote Rep. Joe Wilson, Howard Zinn, you lie.
Instead of teaching kids what’s good and right about America, these radicals — which, by the way, includes Our Lord and Savior’s best friend, the man who jump-started His political career and with whom He worked on the radical Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the domestic terrorist Bill Ayers — want to created one generation after another of misanthropic America-haters. All based on lies.
Says Michelle Malkin:
“A people’s history requires a people’s pedagogy to match,” Zinn preaches. The project is a collaboration between two “social justice” activist groups, Rethinking Schools and Teaching for Change. Rethinking Schools recently boasted of killing a social studies textbook series in the Milwaukee school system because it “failed to teach social responsibility.” A Rethinking Schools guide on the September 11 jihadi attacks instructs teachers to “nurture student empathy” for our enemies and dissuade students from identifying as Americans. “It’s our job to reach beyond this chauvinism.” And a Rethinking Schools guide to early childhood education written by Ann Pelo disparages “a too-heavy focus on academic skills” in favor of “social justice and ecological teaching” for preschoolers.
Teaching for Change’s objective, in Obama-esque fashion, is to train students not to achieve actual proficiency in core academic subjects, but to inspire them to “become active global citizens.”
Everything in the schools, in their view, needs their Marxist, anti-American, leftwing bent. Even math, as the radicals have their very own Marxist math curriculum.
Malkin’s latest syndicated column deals with Zinn and his merry band of Marxists.
Our students will continue to come in dead last in international testing. But no worries. With Howard Zinn and Hollywood leftists in charge, empty-headed young global citizens will have heavier guilt, wider social consciences, and more hatred for America than any other students in the world.
She’s right about that. We see year in and year out how poorly students in America’s gummint-run skoolz perform in comparison to students in other industrialized nations. It’s so bad that a student who graduates from a gummint-run skool spends at least one year in college taking remedial reading and math courses designed to bring them up to a college level. Thus, the birth of the five-year plan.
Your average high school history textbook is written at between the 6th and 8th grade reading level, well below grade level, since U.S. History is usually a requirement for sophomores or juniors, with World History usually being the requirement for the other year.
And that doesn’t count all the leftwing biases or flat-out mistakes in those textbooks. Omissions of important people and events, or overemphasis on the trivial and mundane at the expense of key people and events.
Now, Zinn wants to turn a school system which cannot teach students to read and write, spell, perform basic math tasks efficiently yet has plenty of time for leftwing propaganda disgusied as curriculum into a laboratory to produce millions of useful idiots to advance the agenda of the America-hating Left.
All through the inclusion of lies and the deliberate exclusion of the truth.
Via Malkin, here’s a review of Zinn’s piece of literary trash. A portion on what Zinn refused to include in his book:
More striking than Zinn’s inaccuracies—intentional and otherwise—is what he leaves out.
Washington’s Farewell Address, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, and Reagan’s speech at the Brandenburg Gate all fail to merit a mention. Nowhere do we learn that Americans were first in flight, first to fly across the Atlantic, and first to walk on the moon. Alexander Graham Bell, Jonas Salk, and the Wright Brothers are entirely absent. Instead, the reader is treated to the exploits of Speckled Snake, Joan Baez, and the Berrigan brothers. While Zinn sees fit to mention that immigrants often went into professions like ditch-digging and prostitution, American success stories like those of Alexander Hamilton, John Jacob Astor, and Louis B. Mayer—to name but a few—are excluded. Valley Forge rates a single fleeting reference, while D-Day’s Normandy invasion, Gettysburg, and other important military battles are left out. In their place, we get several pages on the My Lai massacre and colorful descriptions of U.S. bombs falling on hotels, air-raid shelters, and markets during the Gulf War of the early 1990s.
How do students learn about U.S. history with all these omissions? They don’t.
It’s another powerful argument for homeschooling.
