Government-Run … College Football?

Another Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment.

This sounds like it could be from The Onion, but it’s not.

Like government-run car companies? Government-run banks and financial institutions? Government-run health care? Nationalized college student loans?

Get ready for nationalized college football.

If He gets His way, Our Lord and Savior Barack Hussein Obama will be nationalizing college football.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review.

In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch’s request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws.

“Importantly, and in addition, the administration also is exploring other options that might be available to address concerns with the college football postseason,” Weich wrote, including asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the legality of the BCS under consumer protection laws.

Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the championship game.

“The administration shares your belief that the current lack of a college football national championship playoff with respect to the highest division of college football … raises important questions affecting millions of fans, colleges and universities, players and other interested parties,” Weich wrote.

Weich made note of the fact that President Barack Obama, before he was sworn in, had stated his preference for a playoff system. In 2008, Obama said he was going to “to throw my weight around a little bit” to nudge college football toward a playoff system, a point that Hatch stressed when he urged Obama last fall to ask the department to investigate the BCS.

Weich said that other options include encouraging the NCAA to take control of the college football postseason; asking a governmental or non-governmental commission to review the costs, benefits and feasibility of a playoff system; and legislative efforts aimed at prompting a switch to a playoff system.

Read that last paragraph again.

That’s the heavy hand of the federal government — which can’t organize a two-car funeral — saying that college football had better do what the The  Anointed One says or else.

It’s the Chicago Way, something that’s come to be expected by petulant street thugs who don’t know any way else to act.

By the way, anyone who supports this, including enabling girlie men Republicans (I’m looking at you, Orrin Hatch), is an idiot.

It’s none of imperial Washington’s business how NCAA D-1 college football is set up. Lord knows the folks in D.C. have turned enough of America into a clusterf*** already.

By the way, watch for this to become the camel’s nose under the tent of the National Football League.

As anyone who follows the NFL knows, without a CBA in place, 2010 will be an uncapped year followed by a lockout by the owners in 2011. If Gene Upshaw were still alive, it wouldn’t have come to this.

However, the new head of the NFL Players Association is a Chicago street thug and confidante of The Messiah Himself, part of His transition team. His goal is simple: he intends on bringing the Chocolate Jesus Himself and the administration into the scrape on the side of the NFLPA — Obama being a major supporter of union thugs — in an attempt to break the owners, the possible end result being a nationalized NFL.

That’s right. The Obama administration running both D-1 college football and the NFL could be a reality before the 2012 election.

Call it what it is: fascism.
