When Our Lord and Savior was transfigured in January 2009, the average price of a gallon of gas was $1.79. As of today, the average price nationwide is $3.58.
For those of you who graduated from Racine Unified, that’s twice what it was just 26 months ago. It’s doubled. In Mexifornia, the average price is $4 a gallon with a high of $4.14.
Here’s more bad news as The Messiah gears up for a second term:
Consumer price index (CPI) figures from February show an unadjusted 12 month gasoline inflation rate of 19.2%, but in the last month alone prices jumped 6.8%, probably because of oil price increases due to instabilities in the Middle East. If the trend continues, gas prices would double again within a year. 100% gasoline price inflation is nothing to brag about, but imagine Mr. Obama going into the 2012 election having to explain why gas costs $7.00 a gallon. I’m sure the White House would spin it as one of their “Green” initiatives.
It’s just one of the reasons that, despite all the handwringing from the political class and the blueblood countryclubber Republicans as to how the GOP just cannot nominate someone who’s conservative, Barack Hussein Obama is eminently beatable next year by anyone. Yes, anyone.
Don’t pay attention to polls taken now of hypothetical matchups showing Obama beating everyone, with the only ones close being Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee (yawn). Remember: Polls taken in 1979 and early 1980 showed Ronald Reagan trailing the worst President in American history (up until then), Jimmy Carter, by 25 points.
How’d that turn out?
The American middle and independents, which the pundits and GOP elites claim are turned off by a conservative will be paying those $6 and $7 a gallon gas prices, along with the soaring prices at the grocery stores as well as other energy and consumer prices.
Guess who they are going to blame? Jimmy Carter 2.0.
In fact, Americans may already be thinking this a little more than two years into His Thousand Year Reign:

Barry’s energy policy: LOL.
Barry’s fiscal policy: OMG!
Barry’s foreign policy: WTF?!

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
LOL Your sarcasm in the opening made me laugh. It is quite amazing where we are. I hesitate to put it all at his feet, ahem. Surely the rest of DC holds some blame. Of course gas isn’t the only thing running up. With the damage that the FED is doing I track silver and gold with the free app from: http://www.learcapital.com/exactprice
The price doesn’t look to stop at this point. Both continue to highs. Not only in dollars buy other currencies as well. The world is struggling in all this debt.
I paid $4.09 for Regular the last time I filled up. What it costs me to fill my little pickup truck I used to be able to fill my 24′ bobtail for.
Why are conservative such hacks. It sure seems like you forgot gas was over $4 a gallon in July of 2008. You know after Bush wrecked the economy of course the bottom was going to drop out of gas prices. Now that the economy is picking back up the high gas prices are returning due to increased consumption from China and rampant speculation.
Your economic ignorance is astounding, far too deep for me to deal with, so I contracted this reply out to my friend, who is more your intellectual peer:
The owner of this blog, as well as myself, are willing to bet that you were screaming at Bush in 2008 about gas prices and how they were somehow his fault because Bush and Cheney were oil men who were getting rich off of it.
That was wrong then, and this is wrong now. The Obama Regime has intentionally and deliberately restricted domestic oil production in a concerted effort to drive gas prices up to European levels. Energy Ssecretary Steven Chu has said as much, as has Obama Himself.
By the way, The price dropped when Bush opened offshore drilling and indicated he’d sign any bill for expanded drilling.
“Drill, baby, drill” worked.
And your Kool-Aid drinking is at toxic levels. There’s no sign anywhere that the economy is picking up. Still double-digit unemployment and now inflation is hammering real Americans.
But just keep repeating the libtard talking points if it makes you feel good.
