Voters in the projected battleground states are leaving the Democrats in droves less than a year before the 2012 presidential election. A study from Third Way, a centrist think tank, delivers the really bad news (via National Journal):
Over 825,000 registered Democrats in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina and Pennsylvania have departed the party rolls since President Obama’s election in 2008, a much more significant share than the number of Republicans (378,000) who have done the same.
It’s difficult from here to see any path to 270 electoral votes for Our Lord and Savior Barack Hussein Obama. Normally red states like Indiana, North Carolina and Virginia won’t likely fall into the blue column as they did in 2008 when normally rational voters drank the Hope and Change™ Kool-Aid. Also, Ohio and Florida, states carried by President Bush in 2000 and 2004 are almost certain to revert to red next year. Even states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are no longer certainities. Any wonder why the unionistas are trying to undo the 2010 election in Wisconsin? They need the Badger State’s electoral votes for Il Douche.
Lanae Erickson and Michelle Diggles, two analysts from Third Way stress how much more this means that Obama needs Independent voters:
Independents are likely to turn out in their largest numbers in 35 years, and President Obama will need those Independent votes even more than he did in 2008, if he hopes to be re-elected.
Obama’s approval rating has decreased among all six partisan/ideology groups Gallup tracks on a regular basis since January, but it has dropped the most — 10 percentage points, from 40% to 30% — among pure independents. These are the roughly 14% of national adults who neither identify with one of the two major parties nor indicate a leaning. Obama’s approval rating has declined by nearly as much — eight points — among moderate/liberal Republicans, from 29% to 21%.
No way Obama wins with those numbers, no matter who the Republicans nominate. The eventual nominee could be this guy:
And Obama loses. Sad to say, the Cocktail Party GOP’s master plan of running the least conservative candidates likely will succeed. Instead of running, say, an actual conservative, we’ll get Not Obama. And Tweedledee. And like it.
Seventy years ago today, the Japanese launched a sneak attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. Over 3,600 Americans were killed or wounded. The United States lost several battleships, including the U.S.S. Arizona (pictured above) with 1,177 killed on board.
Here’s the actual radio announcement of the attack:
Americans of that generation remembered exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news, a generational milestone repeated on November 22, 1963 with the assassination of President Kennedy and September 11, 2001 with the jihadist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
The following day, President Roosevelt requested a Congressional declaration of war:
Here is the text of the President’s speech:
Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.
Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And, while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.
It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.
Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong. Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.
Japan has therefore undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense, that always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people, in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory.
I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.
With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph, so help us God.
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire
While overall, I wasn’t a huge fan of the movie overall, director Jerry Bruckheimer — a rare conservative in Hollywood — told the story of the attack in Pearl Harbor with very realistic footage of the attack itself, shown here in three parts from the director’s cut version:
Much like with Steven Spielberg and the memorable opening of Saving Private Ryan, Bruckheimer captured the horror of war through the use of contemporary special effects and tools not available to previous generations of filmmakers. Yes, both sequences are graphic, but so is war itself.
Of course, the Arizona was a total loss, unable to be salvaged, and was converted into a memorial for all of those killed in the attack:
All of those killed on board are still entombed in the ship, which still leaks oil.
It’s worth noting that, as of today, more Americans were not alive on December 7, 1941 than were. We are losing members of the World War II generation at the rate of at least 1,500 per day. This is a generation that defeated both the Great Depression and the combination of Nazism, fascism and Communism. The Greatest Generation, as NBC’s Tom Brokaw called them, whose only shortcoming was giving us the next generation of baby boomers, the most spoiled, self-centered, narcissistic generation ever, a generation that has brought America to the brink of ruin, something the Nazis, Jap fascists and commies couldn’t do.
Lacroix is the Kenosha public school teacher who made an advertisement supporting the reforms of Gov. Walker and opposing the recall efforts against the governor.
Here’s the ad:
Needless to say, the bile and venom from Lacroix’s fellow unionista brethren on the Hate Left has not been in short supply. Her e-mail address at Kenosha Unified has been deluged with hate mail, encouraged by various sources online, including Facebook. This troll has been particular nasty:
His name is Dennis Kern. He’s a troll teacher at Second City in Chicago. I presume that is the comedy troupe that has given us such legendary comedians as John Belushi, John Candy, Bill Murray and Chris Farley. Unfortunately, Kern shows himself to be little more than a shart in the Jockey shorts of life. Yes, an Along Came Polly reference.
Kern has his very own hate website, called Free Wisconsin. Here’s his ad hominem attack on Lacroix, including a call to contact her via her public e-mail (which we pay for as taxpayers):
The screen cap is up in case this winds up going down the rabbit hole.
A Google search of Dennis Kern calls up his membership in the Applied Improvisation Network, which also links his hate site. An April 2010 article from the LaCrosse Tribune indicates Kern once worked — but no longer works — at Second City and instead is a “Madison actor.” Imagine that. Presumption is that his profession is conducting acting workshops.
Dear Kristi. According to several blogs and Facebook pages, it seems you spend a lot of time making inflammatory posts on anti-Walker Facebook pages. It also seems on Facebook there are lots of people willing to join the Fire Kristi effort. Too bad the protection of a collective voice from educators was dismantled by your champion. You are alone in a wilderness. Your financial help from the likes of the Koch brothers will dry up once your liabilities outweigh your assets; which will be very soon. Your best bet is to start a job-search soon. Good luck with that as your hero Gov. Walker has managed to lead our the state to a wonderful statistic; number one in the nation for job-losses since he took office. Better hope the unemployment gets extended. Enjoy your isolation.
Vile, despicable cockroaches. Update: taken down because of the volume of complaints from cockroaches for the comparison to Wisconsin Extortion Association Council thugs.
Folks, all of this is directed at someone simply for expressing an opinion. No other reason. This is only a sign of what is to come. The Left has had no problem publishing personal contact details of anyone who opposes them and targeting their homes and families, hiding behind the First Amendment.
The Clue Phone rings. Hello?
The Founding Fathers did not intend the First Amendment to be used to target and harass individual citizens in their homes or target children and families of people with whom we disagree. It was designed to protect individuals who spoke out in disagreement with the government. Period. Another sign of our civic ignorance.
We’ve written about Miles Kristan, the infamous Pink Dress Guy consumed by Walker Derangement Syndrome. He’s physically stalked and assaulted members of the State Legislature. His pink dress was put up for auction and the proceeds donated to Gov. Walker and other who’ve been the targets of his psychotic behavior.
Miles Kristan, the infamous ‘Pink Dress Guy’ who has harassed media and threw a beer at a Wisconsin lawmaker at the height of pro-union protests earlier this year, is engaging in an online effort to draw attention to Governor Scott Walker’s two teenage sons.
On his Facebook page this Sunday, Kristan posted links to the personal pages of Alex and Matt Walker.
“[W]hats [sic] it like having the most hated dad in all of Wisconsin ??? this kid knows,” Kristan wrote as his status message late Sunday night. Kristan included a link to Matthew Walker’s Facebook page in his status message.
He then immediately followed by posting a status stating, “and this kid knows as well,” to which he linked Alex Walker’s Facebook page.
Matthew and Alex Walker are teenagers who both attend public high school in Wauwatosa.
For the record, children of any political figure should be off-limits to any types of ad hominem personal attacks. The Saturday Night Live skit that compared Chelsea Clinton to the White House dog was beyond the pale. Some of the vicious attacks against the twin daughters of President Bush came close, but since both were adults when Bush became President it wasn’t the same as attacking Chelsea Clinton. Malia and Sasha Obama should be off limits for any attacks no matter what the antipathy directed toward their parents.
Same with Alex and Matthew Walker.
Miles Kristan needs professional help. His case of Walker Derangement Syndrome may be terminal. The real cause of this is the refusal of the law enforcement and criminal justice system in Madison and Dane County to take Kristan seriously. Whether they view him as a harmless crank or — more likely — are sympathetic to his cause, the lack of significant sanction and prosecution for his past actions have led him to go on to the next despicable act. Ignoring him is not an option, since I don’t believe he is simply doing these things for attention.
Reporting this to Facebook probably won’t do much, since Facebook is run by lefties and has done little to stop harassment of conservatives by progressives yet has shut down conservatives after caterwauling by lefties. Case in point: lefty trolls went onto the Facebook page of talk show host Vicki McKenna and left vile, vulgar, obscene messages then reported their very own messages to Facebook and had her page taken down.
The Left is pulling out all the stops in the epic battle for our future, both here in Wisconsin and in America.
Here’s Miles Kristan’s Facebook page. Drop by and let him know what you think of his targeting Gov. Walker’s kids for abuse.
